Getting there
The Godam Chaur village is connected by local bus services from Lagankhel. It takes an hour of bus drive to reach there. You can also take a private vehicle to get to the village. Motorbike rides can also be a good option.
However, if you prefer a private vehicle, you can hire one to drop you at Godam Chaur, and in case you want to extend the hike from Bishankhu Narayanthan to the Godavari Botanical Gardens, the vehicle can pick you up from there after your hike ends.[break]
The Godam Chaur-Bishankhu Narayanthan hike takes one hour. But you can walk around from Narayanthan to Maan Danda through Bishtachhap. From Bishtachhap, you can get to the Botanical Gardens. The extended hike takes 4-5 hours to complete.
Hike highlights
You can experience the southern suburbs of Kathmandu Valley with locals walking off to the city areas to sell their fresh vegetables. You’ll also be awed by the green fields where farmers are seen working and grazing domestic animals.

You can also view beautiful landscapes from Bishankhu Narayanthan, including views of Phulchoki, one of the highest hills of the Kathmandu Valley. It’s an ideal weekend getaway from the crowds and the hustle bustle of the city.
Apart from hiking, you can also opt for biking or even go on a picnic with your family and friends.
Weather
The weather is chilly at this time of year (winter). Since you need to walk through pine forests, it’s wiser to walk after the warm morning sun is up.
