Some 55 documentaries on various issues of South Asia and aboard participated in by artists of Nepal, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be presented at Kumari Hall in Kathmandu.
There are some 34 documentaries on competition from Nepal, has presented ´The story of Yomari´, ´Who will be Gurkha´ and ´Playing with Nan.
A viewer writer Ghanashyam Rajkarnikar said the programme helps us understand problems and culture of each other counties from closer and added he liked ´Who will be Gurkha´, whereas journalist Narayan Wagle said such festivals provide knowledge along with entertainment.
Others are ´saving face´ of Pakistan by Sarmin Obed Chinnoi and Daniel Jung, which won Academy Award in 2012.
Celluloid Man of India, ´Algorithms´ of the blind chess players, ´No fire zone´ and ´Fire and the blood´ selected for this year´s Sun Dance Film Festival are also in the competition.
Festival Convener Nyanayan Terr said the documentaries are useful for resolving south Asian problems.
The judges are Indian art editor Prof. Sadananda Menon, Sahidul Alam of Bangladesh, and Sapana Shakya of the Centre for Asian -American Media.
However, the documentary on Sri Lankan civil war, ´broken´, the ´story of one´ and ´no fire zone´ will be shown at Yalamaya Centre on Saturday.
