Nepal Army arrested soldier Lal Bahadur Karki and Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj, arrested journalist Hari Pratigya, who have been accused of murdering Apsara Regmi, 18, a student of NR College at Balaju. Regmi´s body was found in Chapali-8 of Kathmandu on Monday. She was missing since August 4.
Regmi´s family has lodged a complaint in the police, accusing Karki and Pratigya of murdering her. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Army Headquarters said Karki had been detained for investigation.
Meanwhile, police said a ´suicide note´ was found from the body of Regmi, which stated that she was fed up with life and decided to kill herself. Postmortem of the decomposed body was carried out at the TU Teaching Hospital on Wednesday. "We have not yet received the post-mortem report," DSP Sharad Chhetri said, adding that a hand-writing identification test would be conducted at Forensic Lab to verify the authenticity of the note.
In their preliminary investigation, police have found that Karki and Pratigya had talked to Regmi on phone before she went missing.
Meanwhile, students of NR College staged demonstrations in Balaju area on Wednesday afternoon demanding arrest of and punishment for the guilty.
