LAHAN, July 29: The number of people falling victim to snake bites has been increasing in Siraha district.

According to doctors, more than 300 incidents of snake bites are reported in Siraha every month during the monsoon.

However, people most affected by it and living in the rural parts of the district visit local shamans for treatment and come to hospitals only at the last moment. And so it is difficult to save them, doctors say.

Apart from Siraha hospital, the Snake Bite Treatment Center of the Kalidwaj Battalion also provides anti-venom treatment.

In the previous month of Ashar, the Siraha hospital received 35 cases of snake bites while the center treated 150 people bitten by snakes.
