BAGLUNG, Jan 5: Around six percent children have been deprived of education across the country and it is a challenging task to bring them to school, said Joint Secretary of Education Ministry Mahashram Sharma.

It is a sad fact that six percent children are still beyond the reach of education though the government has run ‘education for all programme´ with a view to providing education to all children, he said inaugurating the 30th anniversary of Narayansthan-based Ganesh Secondary School, Baglung.[break]

Guardians, teachers and civil society have equal responsibility to encourage illiterate children to study, he said. "The trend of quitting school is high even among the enrolled children due to various factors."

"It is unfortunate that only 14 percent of those children admitted in grade one appear in SLC exam, he said.

During the programme, Baglung District Education Officer Mukti Singh Thakuri said guardians should be aware to provide good education to their children.

On the occasion, Sharma inaugurated two new buildings of the school constructed at Rs. 1.5 million.
