CHITWAN, March 24: Six passengers died and 14 others were seriously injured Tuesday when a mircobus collided with a minibus on Prithvi Highway at Kurintar, Darechowk-3, Chitwan.
Among the casualties, one died at the spot while four others died on the way to hospital. Nandi Kali Gurung and Hari Raj Pant of Lamjung and Jamuna Laudari, 17, of Kalimati, Kathmandu died in the event. Other who lost their lives are Tanahun´s Thakur Bastakoti, Lamjung´s Bimal Wagle and Gorkha´s Rajan Bin Mia.
Ambika Lama and Suresh Thapa have been rushed to Kathmandu for treatment while others are being treated at Bharatpur Hospital and Medical College.
The accident happened when the minibus, registration number Ba. 2 Kha 3158 collided with the microbus, registration number Ga. 1 Ja 3466, and fell into the Trishuli river. The microbus was heading to Kathmandu from Lamjung while the minibus was on its way to Tanahun from Kathmandu.
Those being treated at Bharatpur Hospital are Kathmandu´s Padam Rajbahak, 29, Lamjung´s Nitu Gurung, 14, Laxmi Wagle, 53, Tek Bahadur Gurung, 36, Karma Singh Gurung, 58 and Santosh Adhikari, 25. Similarly, Tanahun´s Subish Bastakoti, 11, and one other injured are being treated at the Medical College Hospital, Bharatpur.
