Sitaula urges top three to work together

POKHARA, April 2: Nepali Congress Central Committee Member Krishna Prasad Sitaula stating that there is no alternative leader to replace late Girija Prasad Koirala has urged three senior leaders of the party -- Sher Bahadur Deuba, Sushil Koirala and Ram Chandra Poudel -- to take on the mantle.



“Since there is no leader to fill up the vacuum in the NC, the three leaders should work with mutual understanding to lead the party,” said Sitaula. Sitaula suggested the three leaders to consult and take consent from the party´s central committee before reaching any decision. He also stressed on the need for party´s general convention to fill up the vacuum in the party.



“It is essential to hold party´s general convention to elect new leadership in the party,” he opined. He indicated that the party´s Central Working Committee meeting will be held shortly to discuss and fix the date for the convention.



Stating that fate of High Level Political Mechanism has become further uncertain following GPK´s demise, he said that it also had badly affected constitution writing and the peace process. “Failure to integrate Maoist combatants on time has jeopardized the peace process,” he said.
