Sainju defeated Laxman Charan Joshi of Nabil Bank Limited 69-41, 52-18 in a match of best of three sets while Maharjan defeated Avishek Pokharel of Nabil Bank 65-57, 51-64.
Though two officers of his bank lost their first round matches, Nabil Bank AGM Binaya Regmi made a winning start to his campaign in the tournament. Regmi beat Anish Bhakta Suwal of Himalayan Bank 59-52, 55-47.
Chand eased past Sandeep Singh of Himalayan Bank 50-40, 60-42 while More crushed Bikash Shrestha of the hosts Nepal Republic Media Pvt Ltd 72-19, 64-12.
Likewise, Gurung beat Editor of Radio Nepal Harisharan Lamichhane 76-13, 60-34.
Earlier, Managing Director of Nepal Republic Media Private Limited Binod Raj Gyawali and Abhinav Rana, general manager of Hotel Radisson, jointly inaugurated the event. Nepal Republic Media´s director Shova Gyawali and senior staff, among others, were also present on the occasion.
