Seven players reach round of 16

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: Seven players advanced into the round of 16 as the Republica Corporate Snooker Week kicked off on Sunday at the Corner Bar of Hotel Radisson, Kathmandu.



NMB Bank´s senior officer Neeraj Man Sainju, Image Channel´s marketing officer Nanda Maharjan, Nabil Bank´s assistant general manager Binaya Kumar Regmi and Bank of Kathmandu Deputy Manager Ameet Bahadur Chand reached the last 16 after winning their respective matches on the first day. [break]



Likewise, Himalayan Bank officer Raywant Bahadur Singh, Lucky Group Director Amit More and Managing Director of Samraj Spaces and Housing Samraj Gurung also advanced into the second round of the knockout tournament that features 32 contestants from different corporate houses.



Sainju defeated Laxman Charan Joshi of Nabil Bank Limited 69-41, 52-18 in a match of best of three sets while Maharjan defeated Avishek Pokharel of Nabil Bank 65-57, 51-64.



Though two officers of his bank lost their first round matches, Nabil Bank AGM Binaya Regmi made a winning start to his campaign in the tournament. Regmi beat Anish Bhakta Suwal of Himalayan Bank 59-52, 55-47.



Chand eased past Sandeep Singh of Himalayan Bank 50-40, 60-42 while More crushed Bikash Shrestha of the hosts Nepal Republic Media Pvt Ltd 72-19, 64-12.

Likewise, Gurung beat Editor of Radio Nepal Harisharan Lamichhane 76-13, 60-34.



Earlier, Managing Director of Nepal Republic Media Private Limited Binod Raj Gyawali and Abhinav Rana, general manager of Hotel Radisson, jointly inaugurated the event. Nepal Republic Media´s director Shova Gyawali and senior staff, among others, were also present on the occasion.







The six-day event organized by Nepal Republic Media in association with Hotel Radisson will see participation of corporate houses, banks, financial institutions, hospitality industry, NGOs, INGOs and media houses.



Billiards Snooker & Pool Association of Nepal (BSPAN) and Photo Concern are supporting the event while Image Channel and Friday magazine are the media partners. The main sponsor of the event is JSB Financial Tower.



The tournament is co-sponsored by White Mischief Vodka and Kathmandu Beer.
