Those injured in the incident include policeman Min Bahadur Nepali, students Govinda Bista, Tek Bahadur Bista and invigilator Thagendra Acharya. Three others sustained minor injuries and received treatment at local medical center.

Police accused students and parents of trying to burn the answer sheets over alleged leaking of questions of science paper.

Parents accused Assistant Police Inspector Gyan Bahadur Khatri of beating up student Govinda Bista for alleged leakage of question paper and demanded an apology.

“A group shouted slogans and tried to burn the answer sheets inviting the clash,” Khatri said. “They wanted to cancel the examination but we prevented it.”

The group comprising of parents and locals even tried to manhandle exam center chief. “They tried to attack me,” center chief Hari Prasad Khanal said over telephone. “I handed over answer sheets to the police and ran away.”

An all-party meeting was held on Tuesday evening to solve the problem.
