After an initial hearing on a writ petition filed by a group of lawyers, a single bench of Justice Tahir Ali Ansari ordered the government not to move ahead on the matter until the next SC ruling.
In its order, the bench said the government decision to confer the honors should not be implemented immediately as Chief Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha has already expressed serious objection to the government decision and a few individuals have already declined to accept the honors.
The government had yesterday decided to withdraw honors to two senior police officers who have been implicated in human rights violations, following widespread criticism from various quarters of the society.
Gopal Krishna Shivakoti and Shree Krishna Subedi, among others, on behalf of INHURED International, had filed the petition on Tuesday demanding the apex court ruling against the government´s controversial decision.
