KATHMANDU, Sept 5: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday issued a stay order directing the Nepal Army (NA) not to fill 15 officer level posts reserved for candidates from the Madhesi community.

Responding to a writ petition filed by Rakesh Yadav of Siraha, a division bench of Chief Justice Khila Raj Regmi and Justice Sushila Karki issued the order. [break]

The Nepal Army (NA) on March 29 had announced vacancies for 120 officer level posts, including the 15 posts reserved for Madhesi candidates.

However, none of the candidates from the Madhesi community made it through. The results were published on July 25.

Dissatisfied with the result, Yadav, one of the aspirants for the post, on August 21 had filed a writ petition challenging the results published by NA. Yadav had claimed that NA did not conduct any exam for the inclusive quota and only published the result for open category.

Earlier, a single bench of Justice Tahir Ali Ansari on August 23 had stayed the result till September 2.
