KATHMANDU, Aug 26: European Commission (EC) on Wednesday agreed to provide Rs 652 million (euro 5.95 million) to Nepal for peace and stability. According to a press release issued by the European Commission in Nepal, Ministry of Finance and the EU signed an agreement to this effect. The aid will be used for a range of actions in support of peace and stability under the Nepal Peace Trust Fund.
The support is extended under the European Commission´s Instrument for Stability launched in 2007 with the objective of assisting Third World countries in the area of conflict prevention, crisis management and peace building to help create stable conditions for human and economic development and for the promotion of human rights, democracy and fundamental freedom.
