Speaking on the occasion, Poudel said every work should be respected. "We tend to underestimate some jobs. Livestock farming is one of them," Poudel said, adding, "Being an agricultural country, Nepal has high potential for livestock farming."

Stating that Nepal can be self-sufficient in milk only if around 500 farms of this scale are opened across the country, Poudel promised to launch different incentives for encouraging farmers to involve in commercial livestock farming.

Gautam has brought 350 cows of improved breeds in his farm. He is buying 50 more cows in the near future. "My farm is producing around 2,200 liters of milk every day. It is supplied across the Kathmandu Valley through our sales outlet in Kuleshwar," Gautam said. He also added that 60 percent of the cows in his farm are in different stages of pregnancy. "Our daily production will reach more than 5,000 liters within few months," he added.

Besides cows, Gautam have also started poultry and goat farming in the cow farm premises.

Gautam Shree Organic and Cow Farm currently employs 55 persons. All of them are drawing minimum salary of Rs 17,000 per months. "Most of the workers in my farm are from other districts. I found local youth reluctant to work in cow farms," he added.

Gautam also unveiled plan to open cow farm in Hetauda soon and solicited needful government support for the same. "I will be able to employ around 500 people once my new farm in Hetauda opens," he added.
