Four-decade old Banbasa bridge over the river has also come under threat after the surge in water level. India has stopped movement of people on the bridge. The flooded river has swept away two houses in Bhujela of Bhimdutta-11.[break]
“We didn´t move our belongings from the house but the river suddenly entered the village,” said Paramananda Joshi. The flood in the river swept away two concrete houses and a cow shed belonging to Joshi.
Nepal Army, Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Police personnel have been mobilized to rescue the villagers. Janata Primary School in Bhujela has also been submerged in the flood.
“We have managed to save the belongings but are facing difficulty to provide shelter to flood victims,” said Major Mohan Chhetri. The river has also wreaked havoc in Bhimdutta-11 and 13 displacing over 35 families.
Likewise, floods in the Doda River have displaced villagers of Dunga Gaun, Shankarpur VDC.
Meanwhile, our Dadeldhura correspondent Barun Paneru reports that incessant rains have affected vehicular movement in almost all hill districts in the Far Western region. Vehicles heading for Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Achham, Bajhang, Bajura, Darchula, Doti and other hill districts have been stranded after landslides obstructed vehicular movement along Sahukharka section of the Bhimdutta Highway.
