Ramesh Nayak, 38, had allegedly thrashed her 25-year-old wife Ranju to death in their home in Lahan-5 on March 26. According to the complaint filed by Ranju´s maternal relatives, she was beaten mercilessly and later forced to consume mosquito repellent liquid. Ranju breathed her last while undergoing treatment at Lahan Hospital.
Lahan Police has detained Ramesh along with Ranju´s mother-in-law Ganga and sister-in-law Gauri on suspicion of their involvement in the murder.
According to a source, the accused have been trying to settle the case by bribing the police.
“We have demanded action against the guilty,” said representative of INSEC Dhruva Pariyar.
