Regional security meet concludes

NEPALGUNJ, Aug. 5: The two-day mid-western regional security conference ended here on Thursday with a conclusion that the security and administrative bodies need to be more accountable for further consolidating social security.



High-level office-bearers of Nepal Police, Armed Police, National Investigation Department and District Administration Offices in 15 districts of the mid-western development region attended the conference where they discussed matters relating to social and internal security of Nepal, the legal provisions and other practical aspects of security. Also discussed at length at the meeting was the need to consolidate peace and order, neutralize the activities of the armed, ethnic and regional groups, to ensure continuous operation of the highway and supply of essential commodities and services, according to CDO of Banke, Krishna Chandra Ghimire.



Likewise, working papers were presented on controlling the psychology of violence and criminal tendency, putting an end to impunity through strict adherence to the law, expectations of the centre and the minimum means and resources and the concept of a model district administration office.



At the concluding session, Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lilamani Poudel said the security and administrative bodies need to be people-oriented in order to put the conclusions of the conference into practice.
