Rai clocked 12 hours 5 minutes to complete the race and left 13 others behind in the race that started from Pokhara, passed through through Ghandruk, Ghorepani, Birethanti and ended in Pokhara. [break]
Rai bagged Rs 50,000 and received a mountain bike for winning the first day event of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 from the organizers Nepal Mountaineering Service.
Upendra Sunuwar completed the race in 13 hours 2 minutes to remain in the second position while Uttar Rai came third with the timing of 16 hours 29 minutes.
Altogether 102 ultra runners from 13 different countries have participated in four categories of the race --100 km, 70 km, men´s 50 km, women´s 50 km.
Bikash Shahi won the first prize in 70 km edging out 45 other runners. Garba Rai and Aita Tamang grabbed second and third position respectively.
Likewise, Homlal Shrestha won men´s 50 km, where Mahendra Shahi and Purna Tamang finished second and third respectively.
Ngima Yanjee Sherpa won the 50 km title. Manikala Rai finished the race in second position while Anita Rai stood third in the category.
"The race was for promoting Pokhara and the Annapurna region. It was for promoting adventure sports in Nepal," said the race director Ramesh Bhattachan.
Armed Police Force DIG Durja Kumar Rai handed over the prizes to the winners.
