KATHMANDU, Oct 4: Pulse producers have urged to the government to immediately lift the ban on the export of pulses.

They said they are suffering huge loss due to the government impose ban on export of pulses.

Responding to ballooning price of pulses in the domestic market amid supply deficit the government has been restricting the export for last couple of months.

Nepal used to export pulse to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka,India, USA, Canada and the Europe.

Issuing a press statement on Sunday, Association of Nepalese Rice , Oil and Pulse Industry said the ban has led more than 30 pulse mills to the verge of collapse as large volume of lentil stored in the go-downs is decaying inflicting huge loss to the pulse mills.

Rice producers also said the ongoing ban on exports also would push down the price of pulses , ultimately force thousands of farmers to quit pulses farming, increase unemployment, bring negative impact on revenue collection.
