Private sector 'stunned' by Koirala's sudden demise

KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Country's private sector has expressed condolence on the demise of former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala.

Issuing a joint statement on Tuesday, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) said the private sector was stunned by Koirala's sudden demise."We have lost one of our guardians. He was the supporter of open market and free economy," the three associations of Nepali private sector said in the statement. "Koirala firmly believed open market and free economy play a crucial role for country's development and prosperity."

Stating that Koirala led the process of promulgating the country's first democratic constitution, the statement said: "It is now the duty of the government and the political parties to implement the constitution."

The three organizations also said that Koirala was always concerned about country's economic development and always encouraged private sector. They have also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
