Prime minister's election slated for Sunday 11 am

KATHMANDU, Oct 9: The election for the next prime minister has been scheduled for 11 am Sunday.

Reading the letter sent by President Ram Baran Yadav, Speaker Subas Nembang said the prime minister's election will be held at 11 am on Sunday as per the Article 298 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal 2015.The parties took to majoratian system to form the next government after they failed to arrive at common candidate for the post of prime minister within the deadline given by the president. The parties had to provide candidate's name for prime minister based on consensus yesterday.

The UML has projected party chairman KP Sharman Oli as the candidate of the next prime minister.

General Secretary of the Legislature-Parliament Manohar Prasad Bhattarai will unveil the election schedule later today.

Meanwhile, lawmakers of various parties have demanded that issue of 'unofficial' economic blockade imposed by India against Nepal be internalized.
