Upon his arrival at the Security Base Camp at Palung of Thaha Municipality-8, Chief District Officer of Makawanpur, Ram Prasad Thapaliya, and Lieutenant Colonel at Suparetar Barrack of the Nepali Army, Sushil Silwal, familiarised President Yadav about relief materials distributed to quake survivors, financial aid provided to families of the deceased and grants provided by the government for the construction of temporary shelters.
On the occasion, President Yadav urged the government and political parties to engage in post-disaster reconstruction of the nation by rising above partisan interests. He also called on the political parties to bring the new constitution before the people soon.
Similarly, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, said that the government was going to prepare a master plan for the long-term rehabilitation along with management of temporary shelters to the quake survivors.
Present on the occasion were UCPN (Maoist) Vice-Chairman Naryankaji Shrestha and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Kamal Thapa.
On the occasion, representatives of district-based different political parties demanded that the government make proper arrangement of rehabilitation to quake-affected people.
A total of 34 people died in the quake in Makwanpur while 36,700 houses suffered complete damage and 6,265 were partially damaged in quake, according to the District Administration Office, Makawanpur. RSS
