KATHMANDU, Dec 6
: President Ram Baran Yadav will decide on new deadline to choose a new prime minister agreeable to all political parties only after holding talks with the top leaders of the political parties on Friday, president’s political advisor Rajendra Dahal said to Republica.

“President has called for a meeting with the parties tomorrow. The state head will decide on setting new deadline as per the recommendation form the parties,” Dahal said. [break]“The president will also inquire progress made by the parties into the matter so far.”

The president´s deadline, already extended once, to pick a consensus prime minister expired today.

Despite holding parleys, leaders of the major four parties--UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC), CPN UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF)—have failed to reach consensus on a new prime minister on Thursday, too. They, however, agreed to request the president to extend the deadline again.

NC which has proposed its president Sushil Koirala as a next PM expressed its reservation after the UCPN (Maoist) put forth harsh conditions for accepting Koirala´s leadership, yesterday.

Maoists demanded a package deal on various issues, such as the content of the new constitution, appointments to constitutional bodies, amendments to election-related laws, provisions in the constitution and the election date.
