According to the president´s press advisor Rajendra Dahal, the president started holding separate meeting with the leaders of various politicals in view of prolonged political deadlock."The president started this intiatives as there was no end to the political deadlock after the CA´s dissolution and the possibility of holding a new election was getting slim," he said.

Dahal said the president had urged party leaders to forge cosnsensus at the earliest during his meeting with them.

The president had held nearly one and half-hour-long meeting with NC President Sushil Koirala, Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel and senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba. Shortly after holding meetings with top NC leaders, the president met with the MPRF-N Chairman Upendra Yadav.

Talking to media persons, Paudel said they urged the president to safeguard the constitution in his capacity as the patron of the constitution. He denied having asked president to take any "unpleasant steps" including sacking the prime minister.
