KATHMANDU, Aug 1: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has witnessed mounting pressure to finalize the delineation of provinces in the new constitution.

The party faced such pressure after the recent feedback people submitted on the draft constitution swayed for it.

At the meeting of the NC parliamentary party and central working committee held at Prime Minister’s residence on Saturday, the party central members and Constituent Assembly members stressed on reviewing party stand on demarcation of provinces, religious freedom, citizenship, inclusion, fundamental rights among others, said Joint General Secretary of Party, Purna Bahadur Khada. He added that such views were surfaced in the meeting in view of the people’s feedback.

Pluralism and representation of Chief of Army Staff in the national security council were other pressing issues in the meeting.

Decision was made to assign the party leadership to finalize such. The party leaders were univocal on precision and clarity of the constitution, said Chief Whip Chinkaji Shrestha.

Meanwhile, the party has amended the work plans of the general convention.

The dates for conventions in the local, district and regional levels are changed without changing the date of the general convention. The general convention is being held from September 19 to 22. RSS
