According to the Hindu mythology, Rato Machchhindranath is considered and worshipped as the God of rain and good harvest.[break]
Vice President Parmananda Jha, ministers and high ranking government officials were also present on the occasion.
Chief of Guthi Sansthan, Lalitpur, Lekhnath Sapkota showed the Bhoto to the President and commoners for thrice from all four sides of the chariot of the Machchhindranath.
President Dr Yadav who stayed for 30 minutes received Tika and Prasad by worshiping Machchhindranath, the living goddess (Kumari) and Minnath.
A large number of people thronged the site to observe the festival.
The chariot of Machchhindranath was taken to Jawalakhel on Thursday.
Sapkota said the festival concluded without any untoward activities this year.
The Machchhindranath will be taken to Bungmati today itself with cultural programmes after the conclusion of the festival, said Chief Priest of the Machchhindranath, Kapil Barjacharya.
