Inaugurating Kathmandu Peace Marathon at Dasharath Stadium, President Yadav said it is a responsibility of all to resolve the differences through mutual dialogue and understanding. He asked all parties to move forward realizing their responsibility of institutionalizing democratic republic without harboring ill intention toward anyone.
The peace marathon was organized by the Madan Bhandari Sports Academy to exert pressure on the government and political parties to help take the ongoing peace process to a logical end.
Representatives of social organizations, sportspersons and thousands of youths participated in the marathon expressing their solidarity to the call for putting an end to violence, killings and shutdowns in the country.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of the marathon at Hanumandhoka Durbar Square, Chairperson of Constituent Assembly Subas Nembang asked all the political forces in the country to join hands to resolve the problems facing the country. He asked all parties to stop staging protests and bandas and instead unite for the institutionalization of achievements so far.
On the occasion, CPN-UML standing committee member and patron of the academy KP Sharma Oli asked all forces bring an end to street protests. “Constitution can´t be written by setting the street on fire,” said Oli.
Oli argued that the frequent bandas and strikes hold no meaning as people have nothing to get from it. “If the Constituent Assembly can replace 250-year old royal regime, we can solve other problems as well,” Oli maintained.
