KATHMANDU, Feb 4: President Ram Chandra Paudel has returned home after completing his four-day official visit to Japan, departing from Narita International Airport earlier today.
At the invitation of the Government of Japan, President Paudel, accompanied by First Lady Sabita Paudel, arrived in Japan on Monday, leading a Nepali delegation to attend a special ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan.
Japan's foreign minister returns home
During the visit, President Paudel participated in a special reception organized by the Japanese government in Tokyo to commemorate the milestone and addressed the ceremony.
At the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, President Paudel paid a courtesy call on Emperor Naruhito. He also held courtesy meetings with Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Iwao Horii. In addition, he addressed programs organized by the Japanese business community and the Nepali diaspora in Japan, and visited the Embassy of Nepal in Tokyo.
Nepal and Japan established diplomatic relations on September 1, 1956. Nepal opened its embassy in Tokyo in 1965, while Japan established its embassy in Kathmandu in 1967.
President Paudel had departed for Japan on Sunday night for the official visit.
