KATHMANDU, April 24: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has reduced load-shedding by 6 hours a day effective from Saturday.
Currently the power goes off for eight hours daily.

“The existing 55-hour-weekly power-cut will come down to 47 hours,” said Bhuwan Kumar Chhetri at the NEA Load-shedding Center, adding power-cut hours have come down this year due to proper management of Kulekhani power-house.
Around this time last year, the power-cut had gone up for 12 hours. However, the import of electricity from India and proper management of Kulekhani power-house have helped reduce load-shedding hours, said Chhetri.
This new power-cut schedule will be effective in the region between Dhalkebar in the east and Kohalpur in the west. In the regions west to Kohalpur and east to Dhalkebar, the load-shedding hours are limited to four and seven hours respectively, informed Chhetri.
