Police probe sub-inspector's link with Parshuram

BIRATNAGAR, June 24: Police have launched a probe into the phone conversation between sub-inspector Raju Shrestha and Parshuram Basnet after the attack on Abhishek Giri on the premises of Morang District Court and Republica scribe Khilanath Dhakal.



The investigation has been launched at a time when a separate investigation into phone conversation between Deputy Superintendent of Police Sahakul Thapa and Parshuram is about to conclude. [break]



SP Pradumna Karki, who is Morang’s new police chief, said an internal investigation has been launched into Shrestha’s links with Parshuram.



“He has not been relieved of his duties at the moment. However, an internal investigation has been launched. If found guilty, action will be taken,” Karki said.



There are claims from within the police department that Shrestha and Thapa aided Parshuram’s escape.



Shrestha is also believed to have aided Parshuram by revealing to him the timing of Giri’s appearance in court, following which Youth Force activists had reached the court and attacked Giri.
