Pokhrel said that provinces should not be formed only on the basis of capability, culture and identity created by geographical specialty of Nepal. [break]
Addressing a tea reception organized by Ward No. 4 of the Kathmandu Constituency No. 5 on the occasion of Dashain, Tihar, Nepal Sambat 1134 and Chhat festivals here today, he said federalism could not be implemented by neglecting geography.
Stating that the CPN-UML was in favor of seven provinces with multi-identity, the CPN-UML General Secretary said that basis of federalism should be the characteristics of geography and culture.
He claimed that it would be a misfortune in the country if provinces were made on the basis of single ethnicity in the name of identity.
Similarly, publicity department secretary of the CPN-UML Kathmandu District Committee, Shiva Bhattarai, said that the meeting was organized today to formulate a strategy to make its candidates victorious in the upcoming election to the Constituent Assembly (CA).
Likewise, a Publicity Committee has been formed at Ward No. 8 at the presence of candidate of Kathmandu-4 and Chairman of the District Committee, Nirmal Kuinkel, this morning.
