The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had recommended action against Paudel for appointing member-secretary at the National Sports Council (NSC) "illegally" and "arbitrarily."Likewise, the anti-graft body had also asked the government to take action against Minister Gyawali for the inappropriate decisions taken by her in connection to the construction of Solu Corridor Transmission Line. Both ministers had been representing CPN-UML in the coalition government led by Koirala.
Deputy Prime Minister Bamdev Gautam will look after both portfolios until another arrangement is made, according to a statement issued by the Office of the Prime Ministers and Council of Ministers.
Following the allegation from the anti-graft body, PM Koirala on Tuesday telephoned UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and warned of sacking the ministers if the party doesn't recall them from the government. The anti-graft body had stated in a letter to the PM that Bista's appointment was against the law as he was serving a one-year suspension from the NSC while he was picked up for the top job. The CIAA had directed the government to amend the decision to appoint Bista as the member secretary.
