Talking to reporters following the meeting held this evening, Prime Minister Bhattarai said the President agreed to give a way out to the present deadlock through the formation of a national consensus government under the leadership of the Chief Justice.[break]
"We have been discussing on various options since the past nine months, but the opposition parties are not ready for it, so we have come up with a proposal to form a national consensus government led by the Chief Justice", he said.
Stating that he was open to a government led by an independent person if a consensus was reached on the same, the Prime Minister, however, emphasized to go for a CJ-led government if that was not possible.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister also urged the President to endorse the various ordinances submitted by the government.
"The President responded positively to my request of endorsing the ordinances as that was making things difficult", he said.
It would had been easier to work in the interest of the people had the ordinances including one on truth and reconciliation and organized crime were endorsed, he said.
On the occasion, the President is said to have urged the Prime Minister to give a way out to the nation by forging a consensus among the political parties.
Other contemporary political issues were also discussed on the occasion.
