PM, NC Prez hold parley

KATHMANDU, Aug 12: President of Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala met Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar on Friday.



In the meeting, the duo discussed the key issues including those of the peace process, constitution drafting. [break]



Talking to reporters after the meeting, Koirala said that Congress should lead a national consensus government since both the governments led by the Unified CPN (Maoist) and CPN-UML failed to deliver on the peace process and constitution drafting in the past.



The Maoist can lead a consensus government if the party ensures conclusion of the peace process, he said.



Prime Minister Khanal told Koirala that his party will accept leadership of either of the parties, UCPN (Maoist) or NC, if it forges consensus.
