Talking to reporters at Biratnagar Airport, Nepal expressed confidence that Prime Minister Khanal would make such decision very soon.[break]
“Rather than provoking other parties by administering oath to Maoist-nominated ministers, the time has come to make a bold decision for national consensus,” said Nepal, adding, “The prime minister is capable of making such decision.” He said the prime minister should not undermine the environment for national consensus while using his prerogative.
Asked if making extraordinary decision meant resignation of Prime Minister Khanal, Nepal said, “This is just the right time to make the decision.” He said administering oath to those nominated by the Maoists would be a violation of the five-point deal.
“No one but the Maoists are likely to benefit from such move,” said Nepal. He said a national government under the Maoist leadership would be acceptable only if they show sincerity toward peace process and constitution.
He accused UCPN (Maoist) of not showing seriousness toward implementing many past agreements reached between political parties.
