The observance of Martyr Week, from Magh 10–16 each year, includes programs organized by various institutions to commemorate the valor of martyrs who resisted the Rana regime.
Historically, Shukra Raj Shastri was executed in Teku’s Pachali on Magh 10, Dharma Bhakta Mathema at Shifal on Magh 13, and Ganga Lal Shrestha and Dasharath Chand at Shobha Bhagawati on Magh 15 — all while demanding Nepal’s independence from the autocratic rulers of the time.
