He said that fresh elections were not possible without the exit of the incumbent government.

"Elections cannot be held in May if an agreement in not reached within the next week, and we are already into a movement against the present government, and the movement will be successful", Koirala said.

CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said the country has failed to get a political solution due to the totalitarian character and lust of power of the UCPN (Maoist) and warned of bringing the country into a standstill in order to bring down the government.

"Another wave of people´s movement will come and sweep away the present prime minister like that of former king Gyanendra", Khanal said.

He also commented that the time has come for the President to act against the present Government.

CPN-UML General Secretary Iswar Pokharel said the present government has failed in the issue of nationality.

Former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa, RPP President Pashupati Shumsher Rana, CPN-ML General Secretary CP Mainali were of the view that the Prime Minister should step down because the constitutional status of the present government has already ended.
