KATHMANDU, April 20: Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Paudel has accused the government of violating the country´s one-China foreign policy by appointing Lharkyal Lama, who has allegedly been active in the free Tibet movement, as the state minister.

“How can a person involved in free Tibet movement be appointed as a state minister?” Paudel asked at a press meet on Wednesday.[break]

Paudel further said that Lama´s appointment is a deviation from the country´s foreign policy toward the northern neighbor.

He also held the Jhalanath Khanal-led government responsible for financial problems and deteriorating law and order in the country.

“The government has done nothing to improve law and order even after the shooting inside prison, attack on a minister and violent activities in the Tarai,” Paudel said.

He also accused the government of promoting nepotism and favoritism in bureaucracy by promoting “junior” officials in civil service. Paudel also criticized the government for issuing a white paper without getting it endorsed by parliament.
