Following its first defeat in the league, Tusal also lost the top position as Samajik Youth Club beat Chyasal Youth Club 3-2 in another match to remain at the top of the table for at least 24 hours. Samajik, however, has one match in hand.[break]
The result meant Boys Union with three matches to play could conquer the title and reclaim its status in A division if it earns seven points from its remaining matches. Boys Union meets sixth-placed Shree Kumari in its next match on Monday, United Youth on Thursday and Swayambhu on Saturday.
Ravi Kumar Paswan scored the fastest goal of the league to seal victory for Birgunj. It took only 40 seconds into the game for Paswan to score the goal, his sixth in the league. He is now three goals behind highest scorer Dhiran Shrestha of Tusal. Tusal failed to hit back the equalizer despite repeated attempts.
After the results, Tusal dropped from the top to second position with 19 points in its kitty while third-placed Samajik jumped two spots to the top of the table with 22 points. Meanwhile, Boys Union lies in the third place with equal 19 points as that of Tusal, which occupies the second position on the basis of goals superiority.
Birgunj remained unchanged in the fourth place with 18 points. Birgunj and Tusal were playing their 10th match while Samajik and Boys Union have played nine matches each. Chyasal, already safe from relegation, was unchanged in the 12th place, the relegation border, with eight points in its kitty.
Kamalesh Chaudhary gave a 22nd minute lead to Chyasal in the match against Samajik. Ramesh Kumar Limbu cancelled the lead in the 29th minute. Amrika Magar made it 2-1 for Samajik in the 31st minute. Limbu netted his second goal in the 55th minute to extend Samajik´s lead. Bhuwan Basnet pulled one back for Chyasal in the 83rd minute.
In another high-scoring match of the day, Mahabir Studies and Athletics Association and Pulchowk Youth Club played a 4-4 draw. Jeetendra Dhimal netted twice for Mahabir in the 28th and 53rd minutes while Santosh Ghale and Raj Krishna Prajapati were on target in the 61st and 81st minutes respectively.
Sanjog Limbu scored a brace for Pulchowk in the 49th and 74th minutes. Earlier, Ajay Thapa Magar had opened put Pulchowk in front in the 38th minute. Laxman Chaudhary scored for Pulchowk in the 78th minute.
