KATHMANDU, March 13: The Department of Passports (DoP) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that passport distribution services may be disrupted for a few days during the transition period.

Issuing a notice, the DoP said passport services provided by District Administration Offices, Area Administration Offices, and Nepali diplomatic missions abroad may remain suspended for one to three days. Services provided directly by the DoP, however, could remain disrupted for up to a week.
The notice also states that after the installation and implementation of the new system, it may take one to three months for the system to stabilize. During this interim period, it may take longer than usual for passports to be prepared and issued for applications submitted through district and area administration offices, as well as Nepali missions abroad.
The DoP said preparations are underway to install the new system.
It has urged service seekers who will require passports within the next five months to obtain the service from the concerned offices before the transition period begins.
The DoP added that detailed information regarding the new system will be issued in the near future.
