District co-in charge of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Himal Giri, said no initiative was taken so far to make the tourism year-2011 a success in the beginning and the DDC is not showing any intent to implement the decision made in this connection.

He further alleged that the bureaucracy did not remain supportive despite the political parties made repeated attempts to organize programmes.

Similarly, Nepali Congress (NC) district leader Chandra Acharya accused that no concrete works have been carried out in the promotion of tourism in the district due to local bodies´ apathy to people.

On the occasion, CPN-UML district chairperson and former president of DDC, Aangima Lama said it was unfortunate for no programme in Solukhumbu on the occasion of tourism year.

Acting Local Development Officer (LDO) Ram Kumar Khadka admitted that they could not bring concrete programme due to the lack of internal resource and capable human capital at the office, adding that discussion is being held for this.

The recently held 18th district council decided to mark the tourism year in the district by organizing various programmes.
