KATHMANDU, Oct 30: Pakistan has welcomed the election of Bidya Devi Bhandari as the new president of Nepal.

While extending his congratulations to the newly-elected head of the state Bhandari, her Pakistani counterpart Mamnoon Hussain expressed hope that bilateral relations between Nepal and Pakistan will strengthen and expand further in the years to come.
"The president of Pakistan also extended best wishes for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Nepal," said a statement issued by Pakistan Embassy in Kathmandu on Friday.
