KATHMANDU, Nov 11: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Thursday said that there was a possibility of a package deal among the big three parties if there is agreement on power-sharing.

Talking to mediapersons at the tea reception hosted by his party at Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu, Dahal also expected positive progress on the issues of constitution-writing and peace process in next meeting of the big three parties on November 15.[break]

"The three-party meeting this time will be different from all previous meetings. We have subjecting the issue to lively discussions of a high standard," he said.

He said that they have started holding discussion on a ´concrete´ and ´positive´ proposal concerning the peace process. "While the progress on constitution drafting is positive we have also started discussing the power sharing issue," he further said. "There is possibility of a package deal if the power sharing deal is agreed upon [in the next three-party meeting]."

Dahal, however, said that there is no situation to be fully assured about the conclusion of the peace process and promulgation of new constitution yet.

Though almost all top political leaders and diplomats were present at the function, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal and Indian ambassador Rakesh Sood, among few others, were not seen.

We have not shown army guilty

Responding to query of journalists, Dahal said that his party has not taken Prime Minister Nepal and Nepal Army in a negative light in connection with the Indian allegation that Nepali Maoists were providing training to Indian Maoists. He also said the prime minister has said the matter will be investigated.

Dahal said the Maoists would take these things positively. "We do not think that it is good to involve army in this matter. We want the government to investigate it thoroughly," he further said.

Earlier in the morning while laying foundation stone of an overhead bridge at Kalanki, Dahal said that the allegation on the part of Indian government was an attempt to turn Nepal into Iraq. "This is a serious conspiracy against our national dignity. All Nepalis should be aware about this," he said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nepal has said that the allegation made by Maoist lawmaker Barsha Man Pun that Indian allegation was based on a report prepared by Nepal Army on the instruction of the prime minister was baseless.

"Suspicions have been raised by various quarters about the recent visit abroad by Maoist combatants without informing the government," said the statement issued by the prime minister´s press advisor Bishnu Rijal.
