PAC for farmer-friendly policy

KATHMANDU, July 12: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament directed the government on Tuesday to formulate policy on imports and distribution of agriculture inputs, including tractors, that directly benefits the farmers.



The PAC on the day had summoned Agriculture Minister Hari Narayan Yadav and Secretary Nathu Ram Chaudhary to seek clarification on the imports and distribution of agriculture inputs. [break]



The meeting directed the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to formulate a policy that would be beneficial to the farmers while purchasing agriculture inputs.



The meeting also decided to summon the agriculture minister and secretary again on July 24 to seek clarification on the government policy on commercialization of agriculture sector and its investment in the sector.
