KATHMANDU, August 2: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) directed Nepal Telecom (NT) to scrap the bridging project of adding around 1.5 million GSM and CDMA lines and start fresh bidding process.

NTC was planning to procure 1.1 million of GSM and 0.4 million of CDMA telephone lines without bidding process. [break]

Referring to scarcity of the sim cards in the market, a board meeting of Nepal Telecom had decided to procure the lines from a Chinese company through ´bridging project´. PAC had questioned fairness in the procedure.

PAC had instructed to adopt a fast track system to call a new tender within 45 days.
