The deceased has been identified as Satrughan Patel of Pakaha Mainpur VDC in the district. He had sustained bullet injuries to his head in Maisthan area and died while undergoing treatment at Narayani Sub-regional Hospital, according to the doctors.
Former state minister Karima Begam was among the 15 injured in the clash with the police while staging demonstrations, defying the curfew in Birgunj area. Two security personnel, including a police inspector, Sheikh Adalat, were also injured.

Similarly, local cadres of agitating United Democratic Madhesi Morcha on Sunday torched the house belonging to CPN-UML lawmaker Sita Devi Yadav at Siraha bazaar in Siraha district. Irate locals and agitators also set ablaze a jeep and a motorbike parked on the premises of her house.
Thousands of locals and cadres led by Upendra Yadav, chief of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, one of the Morcha members, staged a silent rally with black flags in Siraha bazaar. Similar demonstrations were also held in Lahan, Mirchaiya and Golbazaar.
