The suspected criminal was killed in an encounter with the police near Ramgadhawa bridge in Parsa at around 10 pm, SP Rajendra Man Shrestha said.
The police had intensified security checks in the district following bomb blasts at Ghantaghar. The police opened fire at a group of three persons when they tried to flee after the police asked them to halt for security check.
Shrestha said the identity of the killed person has not been established. The police recovered a pistol and two bullets from the incident site.
Meanwhile, an unidentified armed gang kidnapped Uddhav Aryal, the owner of a medical shop, from Parwanipur of Parsa on Sunday night.
