KATHMANDU, Nov 26: Rakshya Bam, coordinator of the Nepal Gen Z Front, has accused CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli of exhibiting a lust for power. Her remarks came after the CPN-UML registered as a party for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5 on Tuesday.
Taking to Facebook on Tuesday, she sarcastically said, “After breaking up with power, he cannot bear the rejection by the people and is whining like a gangster, calling for HoR’s restoration. He cries like a rejected lover.”

She argued that the UML registered as a party with the mindset of “maybe we’ll get another share in power.” However, she added that the party should be welcomed with the “benefit of the doubt” for adopting a democratic path.
Bam recalled that since the anti-democratic events of September 8, there have been continuous attacks on democracy and the constitution.
She emphasized that the mandate given by the people was for good governance, investigation of corruption, and finding democratic solutions. She warned that failing to hold elections would mean handing over the reins of the country once again to a dictator.
She also questioned the intent behind preventing elections: “Who is saying ‘We won’t let the elections happen!’? With what arrogance and pride are they saying it? Who is giving them the courage to say this? What is their understanding of the Constitution? These are the burning questions that need to be raised today,” she wrote.
