KATHMANDU, June 14: The government has decided to honor police officers involved in the successful investigation of Ranibari murder that took place some 12 years ago.

A cabinet meeting held on Sunday decided to honor Deputy Inspector General Hemanta Malla, Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhim Bahadur Dahal and Inspector duo, Mahesh Basnet and Dipendra Adhikari, for solving the mysterious murder of a couple that took place more than a decade ago.The police officers, currently serving at Central Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police, are being awarded for resolving the long-pending case and nabbing those involved in the murder of an engineer couple, Hemanta Shrestha and Anjali Shrestha, on July 15, 2002.

Nepal Police had failed to resolve the case even after forming over a dozen investigation teams over the years.
