NT to introduce unified biling

KATHMANDU, Nov 30: Nepal Telecom (NT) customers will no longer need to wait in long queues or look for different counters to pay their bills once the state-owned telecom operator introduces convergent billing system.



The technology, which NT is introducing in the near future, will allow its customers to make payment of internet, mobile and telephone service through a single bill. [break]



At present, NT customers need t visit different billing sections to pay their bills.



Lochan Lal Amatya, IT manager at NT, said they have already invited tender to implement the project.



NT is investing Rs 2 billion in the project.



“This is a big project and is expected to take a lot of time. We will implement it under different phases,” he said, adding that NT would unify bills of PSTN and GSM in the first phase. Amatya said it might take about a year to complete the first phase.



In the final stage of the project, the bills of ADSL, CDMA, PSTN and GSM will be available in a single bill, he added.
