Accusing the NOC of violating Sports Development Act, NSC Member-secretary Hari Babu Chaudhary said they will move the country against NOC´s move.
“It is clearly stated in the Sports Development Act that either NSC member-secretary or the one chosen by him will participate as the chef de mission, but NOC has violated that rule,” Chaudhary said.
He also accused the NOC of disobeying Tuesday´s ministerial level decision of sending member-secretary as the chef de mission in the games.
Nepal defeated by India
Nepali U-18 basketball team were defeated 50-80 by India on Thursday in the U-18 Asian Basketball Mid-Zone qualifiers being held in Banglore, India.
Physically taller and stronger India made a dominating start from the beginning and lead all four quarters.
According to the National Sports Council, India took five points lead in the first quarter 22-17. They extended lead in other quarters 17-9, 26-11, 15-13 to wrap up their victory.
Rohit Lama netted 15 points for Nepal while Sushil Gurung contributed 13 points. Sadab Khana top-scored with 25 points for India.
The winner of the qualifiers being held in round robin league will contest in the Asian U-18 Basketball Championship to be held in Yemen from September 22 to October 1.
Radhika, Jana Jyoti fix final date
Radhika Higher Secondary School, Morang, and Jana Jyoti Higher Secondary School, Rautahat, on Thursday fixed the final date for Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school Girl´s National Football Tournament underway at the Dasaharath Stadium winning their respective semifinal matches.
Radhika hammered Water Park English Medium High School, Banke, 5-1 in the second match of the day. Giving an early third minute lead to Radhika, Indira Rai completed her hat-trick. Rai netted two other goals in the 37th and 66th minute. Likewise, Pratika Magar scored a brace in the 21st and 67th minute respectively. Bimala Chaudhary scored the consolation for Water Park in the 48th minute.
Earlier in the first match, Jana Jyoti were declared the winners after opponents Thekraj Higher School, Dhangadi, did not arrive for the match. Thekraj had walked out of the tournament on Wednesday during their boy´s group stage match against Shramik Shanti School, Lalitpur, protesting against the referee´s decision. Both the boy´s and girl´s team left home on Wednesday.
Thekaraj´s officials, players and fans accused the referee of bias who "disallowed a legal goal" scored by them.
The organizer All Nepal Football Association declared a 2-0 victory for Shramik Shanti after Thekaraj left the field which paved their way to the semifinals.
The final match will be held at the Dasharath Stadium on Saturday.
SAG medalist Shakya honored
Karate gold medalist of 11th South Asian Games (SAG) Binod Shakya was honored by Kathmandu Valley Construction Entrepreneurs Association in the Capital on Friday.
Shakya, also a construction entrepreneur, was also awarded a purse of Rs 10,000 along with the letter of felicitation during their 10th general convention and sixth general assembly.
Shakya had won gold in men´s U-75 kg kumittee defeating Sri Lankan Mohammed Nifaz in the final. Shakya was also the bronze medalists of 10th SAG.
